What IJPS knows about Parental Involvement?

Parents play a vital role in the development and education of their children. Parents and families, with support of their school and community, have the primary responsibility for the development of their child’s character.

In addition, research clearly indicates that good schools become better schools when they are strongly connected with parents as part of learning community.

Thus , parents not only play an important role within the school community , but they also have a significant impact on their children’s education through the attitudes they help to shape and the direct support they provide to their children.

Challenges and Opportunities

If society presents challenges to parents’ engagement in education, it also offers new ways to engage parents. Inparticular, new technology expands the possibilities for communication and parental engagement.

As our access to information technology continues to expand, a variety of online tools and strategies are now available and are being used to engage parents. Maximizing the use of these technologies is essential as we approach parental engagement in the 21st century Skills.
